Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Their Time of Need

A Community That Works Together

We strive to offer our guests as much help as they need and want - that is why we have partnered with Western Connecticut Health Network Community Care teams to help provide our neighbors with the services they need. When we work together success stories are achieved- like Ed featured in this video, a former guest.

The New Milford Homeless Shelter Coalition, Inc., along with its many volunteers and participating churches, believes that every person has the right to safe, affordable, and legal housing.  Our goal is to provide a safe emergency transitional shelter through winter months for those whose circumstances preclude such housing.

About Us

Our Story

On a January evening in 2001, approximately 200 concerned residents of the Town of New Milford along with local clergy and Town Officials gathered together to discuss the needs of our neighbors that for whatever reason were living on the streets, doorways, or tents in the Town of New Milford. It was decided that evening that a temporary emergency shelter system was needed to offer a safe warm place to sleep at night through the winter months to our neighbors in their time of need.

Our Status

The New Milford Homeless Shelter Coalition is incorporated as a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation.
